All the B’s at Pink Gem

Pirate Andy (1)

Good Morning. We’re back from our holiday and I now have a mountain of washing to get through! That can wait though as we are off out to celebrate a friends 30th Birthday this afternoon.

I didn’t get time to schedule this before we started our holiday so I was going to post it yesterday when we got home, but after a very long journey and sorting out the children I was just too tired and went to bed instead ;-)

A new challenge started yesterday over at A Gem of a Challenge, set by the lovely Katie, and we want to see…

Anything with a ‘B’

I’ve gone for: Birthday, Boy, Blue, Button, Brown Boots, Bandana & Brads…

Digi Bells New Release Blog Hop

Sweet Surprises (1)

Hurrah! It’s time for a new release at Elisabeth Bell and we have an adorable new Digi this month. She was a stamp once upon a time, released by Belles 'n Whistles, but lucky for us she is now a digi image.  Without further ado please welcome…

** Sweet Surprises **

…to our little family at Elisabeth Bell.

You should have arrived here from Pops Blog and if truth be told I’m a little nervous. You see I have long been an admirer of Pops’ beautiful work, so being straight after her on the hop is a little daunting.

Sweet Surprises (3)

If you have just stumbled upon this post and would like to join in the hopping fun please pop back to the start over on The Digi Bells Blog. You have plenty of time to join in the fun as the hop runs for a whole week, ending on Friday, August 30th, 2013 at 9:00am Arizona time (which should be 5pm UK time…I think!).

Sweet Surprises (6)

I have coloured her with my ProMarkers and she was a dream to colour. I usually colour my image first and then search my entire craft room trying to find papers to match. That takes and age so of late I have been trying it the other way around. I pick my papers, trying to match the theme of the digi, and then colour the image. I must say I think my cards have been better for it, I can’t really explain it, they just seem better.

Supplies:

  • Image: Sweet Surprises by Elisabeth Bell
  • Colouring Medium: ProMarkers
  • DP: First Edition ‘Boho Chic’ 6x6 paper pad
  • Card: Large White Card base from Anna Marie Designs and Joanna Sheen Elegance Ice White 300gsm
  • Stamps: Whimsy Stamps ‘Spell It Out’ Stamps and Circle Celebration Pennants
  • Dies & Punches: Daisy, Circle and MS Zig Zag border punch
  • Embellishments: Stickles, Pearls, Glitter Border, Paper roses and Ice cream cone buttons

Your next stop should be the lovely Lynda’s blog and don’t forget to leave a comment on each blog and at the very end hop back to the Digi Bells blog and let us know what you thought of the of hop.

I sure hope Mr Blogger is playing nice and posting all my scheduled posts. I won’t waffle, after writing several of these posts in one go I have run out of stuff to say…..something I’m sure my Hubby would tell you is an impossibility, lol!

Anyhoo, it’s time for a new challenge at PCJ and the theme this time is:

We are being sponsored this fortnight by Just Some Lines and were lucky enough to be given some images to work with. I used Emo Happy Day, it’s got cute little butterflies on so I just had too…

Whimsy Inspiration - Anya

MCG Anya (6)

Just a quick little post from me to share some Whimsy Inspiration using a fabulous digi by Moon Cookie Gallery called Anya and she can be found here in the Whimsy Stamps shop.

MCG Anya (3)

I have always loved Russian Dolls, in fact I have a little set on the windowsill of my craft room. The patterned papers are from MME but I forgot to write down which pad it was and I’ve teamed the image with flowers cut using a MFT Die-namic die and leaves cut with a CC Cutters die. I’ve also used a Whimsy Stamps Lace Border die, sentiment stamp and matching die.

I’m rather disappointed though as the flowers are not showing up as well as they do in real life.

Little Lamb

Little Lamb (3)

Hopefully (if Mr Blogger is playing nicely) I should be travelling up to Yorkshire for a little holiday as this posts. We have already had a holiday with my In-Laws this year so now we are going with my parents. I love going on holidays with our parents as it’s lovely watching them spend time with their Grandparents and it gives me and Hubby a little break too. My Little Boy is looking forward to Flamingo Land (a theme park) and is hoping for a Donkey Ride on Scarborough beach. I have, of course, made space in the car to take my ProMarkers and some digis to colour! There is no way I could go a whole week with no crafting.

It’s my turn to post as a GDT over at the Digi Bells blog and today I opted to use the seriously cute Little Lamb. All the while I was colouring this I was singing ‘Little Bo Peep’ so it’s a good job my Little Baby Girl has reached the age where she likes me singing her Nursery Rhymes.

Little Lamb (2)

I’ve coloured up Little Lamb to match the gorgeous patterned papers and then created a paper patchwork/quilt effect as I thought it suited the image. I’ve finished along the same lines with lace, a doily and pretty flowers.

Supplies:

  • Image: Little Lamb by Elisabeth Bell
  • Colouring Medium: ProMarkers
  • DP: First Edition ‘Isabelle’ 6x6 paper pad
  • Card: Turquoise Core’Dinations, 6x6 White card base and Joanna Sheen Elegance Ice White 300gsm.
  • Stamps: Whimsy Stamps Mini Ticket Sentiments
  • Dies & Punches: Sizzix Hexagon Framelits and Memory Box Corner Bow Dies
  • Embellishments: Viva Decor Pearl Pen, Paper Roses, Ribbon, Lace, Pearl , a doily and Mini White Tags (from a Stationers shop)

Whimsy Inspiration – Watermelon

Lia Stampz Watermelon (2)

Just a quick post from me as I’ve been a bit poorly…again. With one bug after another the Doctor now thinks I have food poisoning! My poor immune system is in need of a holiday. I haven’t felt up to much crafting so thought I would post some of my recent makes.

This card uses Watermelon by Lia Stampz

Lia Stampz Watermelon (1)

I’ve tried the no lines colouring technique with an actual stamp and inkpad before but not with a digi so thought I would give it a try. Using Microsoft Word I changed the colour to a pale grey before printing. I’m quite pleased with the result.

  • Image: Watermelon by Lia Stampz at Whimsy Stamps
  • Colouring Medium: ProMarkers
  • DP: Some old magazine freebies (Picnic in the Park by Serif maybe?)
  • Card: Kraft Card base from Anna Marie Designs and Joanna Sheen Elegance Ice White 300gsm.
  • Dies & Punches: Tonic Doily Edge Border Punch
  • Embellishments: Viva Decor Pearl Pen and Stickles Glitter Glue

Spring Princess (4)

It’s time for another challenge at PCJ and this time the challenge is:

Distress/Vintage

We are being sponsored by The Paper Shelter and I have used Spring Princess…

Spring Princess (5)

I’m not that great at the Vintage style so I went for Distress instead and I’ve used Distress Inks to ink all my edges and to randomly stamp over the background papers.

  • Image: Spring Princess from The Paper Shelter
  • Colouring Medium: ProMarkers
  • DP: First Edition ‘Spring Drop’ 6x6 paper pad
  • Card: 6x6 White card base and Joanna Sheen Elegance Ice White 300gsm.

I Love You this Much

I Love You this Much (5)

This time last week I had some fabulous news….I’m going to be a guest Digi Bell for the next three months...woohoo! I couldn’t get creating straight away as I was poorly, but although I’m not feeling 100% I have been feeling well enough to get back to some crafting.

Today is my first time posting over on the Digi Bells blog and I have used the gorgeous 'I Love You This Much'

I Love You this Much (6)

I have teamed the image up with some fabulous Pink Petticoat Papers that were free years ago with a magazine. I‘ve not used them before, every time I’ve got them out I have struggled to make a card as they are quite a busy pattern, but against this cute image I think they work perfectly.

  • Image: Elisabeth Bell 'I Love You This Much'
  • Colouring Medium: ProMarkers
  • DP: Pink Petticoat Magazine Freebie
  • Card: White Base from Anna Marie Designs and other card from Paper Mill Direct
  • Ink: Brilliance ‘Pearlescent Orchid’ Inkpad
  • Dies & Punches: ‘By the Letter’ Alpha Dies and Mini Rolled Roses Dies from Die-Namics, ‘Parker’ number dies from Memory Box, X-Cut NEsting Heart Dies, A Marianne Corner Die and Circle and Scalloped Circle Nesties
  • Embellishments: Pearls, a Gem Heart and Ranger Stickles ‘Crystal’

Texture & Dimension

Texture and Dimension (4)

Last Thursday a new challenge for August started over at the Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog. I had my project part made but being a bit poorly has delayed it’s completion until now. Don’t worry though you still have plenty of time left to get your entries in.

This time the lovely Claireliz has picked us a theme of…

Texture & Dimension

I quite often use dimension in my cards. I certainly get through a fair few 3d foam pads! So I wanted to try and get some texture onto my creation as well…

Texture and Dimension (1)

To make this new baby card I‘ve used papers and elements from Sarah’s ‘Say Cheese’ digi kit printed onto pearlescent white card. One of the papers was the woodgrain paper which gives a faux texture.

I wanted some real texture too and for some time have wanted to try out  texture paste. However I don’t own any and I don’t like to buy things just to try them and have them sit gathering dust on a shelf for a few years before I use them again. So I thought I would like try a little experiment…I made my own! I was going to mix some of Little Boy’s play sand with acrylic paint but it was past 10pm and dark outside. There was no way I was going out into the garden on my own, so I went and raided my kitchen cupboards instead.  I found some Semolina  and thought I would give it a try as it has similar sized grains as sand does. After all that palaver I realised the only stencil/mask I had was a butterfly one and that wouldn’t have worked for this card so I just had to swipe it across the card with a pallet knife. I am please with it and IRL it looks quite cool.

To finish I’ve added a bit of stamping, some die cuts and some dots from a pearl pen.

  • Image: ‘Baby Feet’ Clear Stamp Set – Sarah Hurley
  • Colouring Medium: Whispers Brush Markers
  • DP: ‘Say Cheese’ Digi Kit – Sarah Hurley
  • Card: 6x6 Kraft Card base from The Range
  • Ink: Memento ‘London Fog’ Inkpad and Brilliance ‘Coffee Bean’ & ‘Pearlescent Orchid’ Inkpad
  • Sentiment: Double Sayings from Paula Pascual for Personal Impressions Stamp Set
  • Dies & Punches: ‘By the Letter’ Alpha Dies from Die-Namics and ‘Happy’ die from All Occasion Dies by Robert Addams
  • Embellishments: Home made texture paste, Viva Decor Pearl Pen and Twine

Pearls at A Gem of a Challenge

Chloe with Balloon (5)

Morning all. I’m glad I was a good girl and had this card ready and scheduled last week as I’m a little bit poorly at the moment. Nothing serious and I should be feeling better soon as I have some antibiotics to help.

It’s time for a new challenge over at A Gem of a Challenge and this week it’s the turn of The Pink’s to bring you inspiration and the lovely Shea has picked the theme of…

Pearls / Anything Pearlescent

I’ve used the oh so sweet Chloe with Balloon:

Chloe with Balloon (4)

Chloe has been coloured with ProMarkers, fussy cut and added to the card base along with a lot of embellishments. For my pearls I’ve used various sizes/colours of self adhesive pearl and also hand drawn some swirls with a pearl pen.
