I Smell Spring at Whimsy

CD I Smell Spring (2)

Well this post is a lot later that planned, especially as I started typing it at 8:30am! Had a bit of a hectic day, so just grabbing a few minutes down time before I head to bed and thought I would finish this post.

I have a little bit of Whimsy Inspiratiion for you today and I’ve used one of April’s Digi Release I Smell Spring from Crissy's Digis

CD I Smell Spring (4)

Now the obvious route would have been to make a pink card but I wanted to try something a little different. I’ve had my eye on some baby clothes for Emily that has a navy and lemon colour scheme and it’s so pretty I thought it might look cute on a card as well.

The image has been coloured with Spectrum Noir Markers and the rest of the card is quite simple as the colours are quite striking.

Distress It at A Gem of a Challenge

Thoughtful Chloe (5)

Morning All. What is everyone up to this weekend? We’re are headed off to the In-Laws for the day, as Hubby, FIL and SIL are off to watch the football…so no crafting for me today. I will be making up for it tomorrow and, as long as Miss Emily allows, will be having a very crafty day finishing off a magazine commission, projects for the next edition of Sarah Hurley’s Lookbook and some other design team work.

Waffle over it’s time for our new challenge at A Gem of a Challenge, which has been set by the lovely Shea. The theme this time around is…

Distress It

I have used the gorgeous Thoughtful Chloe and my distressing is the sanding on the embossing and the inked and tatty edges on my layers and sentiment…

Thoughtful Chloe (1)

My image has been coloured with Spectrum Noir pens, still practicing though, can’t get them to blend as well as my ProMarkers. Eeek no patterned paper on this one, instead I’ve used some Core’dinations which I have embossed with the ‘Tied Together’ embossing folder. I’ve also used a Fiskars border punch, a sentiment (also from Pink Gem) and to finish I have added some Meiflower gems, some pearls using a Viva Pearls Decor Pen and a few Wild Orchid Craft Flowers.

Sentimental at Paper Crafting Journey

Amber Heart Balloon (2)

I am running a bit behind again, we’ve germs in our house again this week, little Emily is feeding like crazy (must be having a growth spurt) and she also had her second lot of immunisations yesterday, she was very brave and only cried on the second injection. So today Elliot, Emily and I snuggled on the sofa watching TV and didn’t do a lot else.

Anyhoo, a new challenge started yesterday over at PCJ and the theme this time is…

Must Use a Sentiment

We are being sponsored this challenge by the fantastic Just Some Lines and I have used Amber Heart Balloon:

Amber Heart Balloon (1)

I have coloured the image with ProMarkers and cut out using Nesties leaving the balloon off the edge. The patterned papers are from Fancy Pants ‘To the Moon’ 6x6 paper pad. The rest of the card is quite CAS, just a punched border and sentiment cut into a banner, some pearls and a little doodling with a black fineliner.

Hot Air Balloons

Morning All. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I had a nice quiet relaxing one, did a little bit of crafting, a little bit of cooking and took the wee ones out to the park for some fresh air.

Got half hour in the craft room yesterday evening so I have a little bit of Whimsy Inspiration for you this morning. I’ve used a digi from April’s release Hot Air Balloons from Moon Cookie Gallery.

MCG Hot Air Balloons (1)

I’ve also made this card for the current Less is More challenge of Lime and Black.

The first balloon and computer generated sentiment are printed onto smooth white card,  trimmed, mounted on black card and fixed to a white 5” by 7” card blank. The second balloon has also been printed on smooth white card, cut out and fixed to the card base with foam pads. Both balloons have been coloured with Spectrum Noir pens and a touch of Lime Green Stickles.

And for anyone that’s interested here’s a recent picture of my Littlest One…12 weeks old yesterday :-)

Monochrome @ PCJ

Violet Vintage (4)

Me again… I was meant to post this on Thursday but didn’t as my camera batteries all died and I couldn’t get a picture till they charged. Of course by the time the batteries charged and I took the picture silly old Baby Brain here forgot to write the post so I’m just going to get straight to business…

A new challenge started on Thursday over at Paper Crafting Journey and this time our theme is….

Monochrome

Definition of Monochrome is ‘A card in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour’. I was inspired by my lovely friend Sarah Hurley who did an amazing ‘Sepia’ colouring demo on Create and Craft the week before last (see here)…

Violet Vintage (1)

I have used the fabulous Vintage Violet from Saturated Canary  and I have coloured her with ProMarkers (Sandstone, Caramel and Umber).

The papers are from a Prima Marketing 6x6 pad called Reflections and I’ve also used Bazzill Kraft card and brown card from Stampin Up. The edges have been punched with an MS punch and inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I’ve used a Picot Edge Circle Nestie to mount my Craftwork Cards Sentiment, flowers dies from JoyCrafts, Bow die from Memory Box and bits and bobs from my stash are the pearls, gem and the ribbon roses.

Top Tip – When punching the border I got little dots of card all over my desk so I used a sticky clothes roller (from Ikea…the type to remove lint) to quickly pick them up. This also works for spilt glitter/embossing powder.

Don’t forget to head over to the PCJ blog and see the wonderful creations from the rest of the DT.

Animals at Pink Gem

Bunny Chloe (6)

Morning all, hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We’re having a quite a lazy one, but Little One and I are planning a little spot of baking this afternoon.

This week it’s Team Gems turn to post a challenge card over at A Gem of a Challenge and Debbie has set the theme of...

Animals

So there needs to be an animal on your project. I have used the very adorable Bunny Chloe, so as well as the two rabbits I have Bunny Chloe as an animal as well…

Bunny Chloe (7)

Chloe has been coloured with Spectrum Noir Pens as I wanted to practice my colouring with them, I’ve even attempted the sky and cloud background. Also I seem to have got stuck in a rut of using the same ProMarker combinations and they say a change is as good as a rest.

Bunny Chloe (11)

I’ve made a small 5” square Easel card using a scalloped card blank. The papers are from the Dovecraft Garden Party paper pack and have been layered with Kraft card from Bazzill. I’ve also used some plain and scalloped Nesties, the sentiment is from a Woodware set and is stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black on a banner cut by hand and lastly the flowers, brads and pearls are from my stash.

The challenge will end at 6pm on 12th April, so please hop across to the A Gem of a Challenge blog to see what the rest of the team have created.

FF GDT April

The theme for the new challenge is….

Paper Piecing

I have used Chloe and Kitten which I have coloured with ProMarkers and have used some of Janet’s fabulous papers to Paper Piece Chloe’s dress and also the grass and the sky…

Chloe with Kitten Birthday Card (4)

The sentiment is a clear stamp from Pink Gem Designs and the rest of the card has been kept quite simple with just a little faux stitching.
