Simply Fabulous from Kanban

Not a good start to the week for me. We came back from our weeks holiday to a broken boiler,so no hot water or heat (luckily our shower is electric). Thanks to a lovely engineer who came out at lunchtime it’s now working again and I’ve warmed up enough that my fingers can type this post!

I’ve got some more of the dreaded housework to do so just a quick post to share another of my Kanban makes:

Cool Britannia from Kanban

As some of you know back in March/April of this year I became part of the first UK Design Team for Kanban Crafts. I started creating and my cards have been shown on Kanban Crafts Facebook page but due to the small matter of a growing baby bump and the dreaded Morning Sickness I have neglected to share my cards here on my blog. Well today that’s going to change and I’m going to start sharing the cards with you each week.

Here is a card I made using the fabulous Cool Britannia collection.

My Sentiment Exactly at PCJ

Morning everyone I’m finally starting to join in with some of my DT commitments again…. So I’m here to share my card for the new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey where the theme this week is ‘My Sentiment Exactly!’

  Sentiment Card (3)

The challenge ends on 26th of September 12pm BST and you must remember to use a sentiment on your project.

We are being sponsored by Digital Delights by Louby Lou who are offering the winner a $5 gift certificate to use in their store.

My papers, card and sentiment are all from Kanban, the numbers are from an old See-D’s set, the small butterfly punch is from Hobbycraft, the flourish is a MFT Die, the Phlox flowers are a CC Designs die and have been cut from felt (both Dies from Dies to Die For and the lace and pearls are from my stash.

Please hop over to the main PCJ blog and see the fabulous creations by the rest of the design team and thank you for stopping by.

I would also like to add my card to the following challenges:

And Another

Afternoon all last night I couldn’t resist digging out my favourite Kanban Floral Stamp and having another go at this weeks LIM challenge.

I was in desperate need of an early night so thought I would blog it quickly while I have my lunch.

Flourish Card

I’ve stamped the image once up the right way and once upside down at the top of the card using shades of pink from a Color Box Q set. The brown circle is cut from a scrap and the white circle has been edged with pale pink ink and a smidge of Walnut  Stain Distress Ink. The pearls are also from Kanban and I’ve coloured them with an Umber ProMarker.

Have a good afternoon all and thank you for stopping by.

Whoop whoop whoop!

I’ve had an awful evening crafting and am feeling a little frustrated as the card I was trying to make seemed a good idea in my head but just wouldn’t translate to paper. It’s for this weeks LIM challenge. I’m going to give it another shot tomorrow and hopefully have a card I wont be too ashamed to show you.

In lieu of a decent card to share and before I head off to bed I thought I would do a quick post to share my absolutely fabulous news. I have been chosen to join the new UK design team for Kanban. I found out a little while ago and have been dying to share the news but had to wait until it was formally announced. I am thrilled to bits and can’t wait to get creating for them.

I have a favourite Kanban Stamp (well at the moment overall favourite stamp) and it’s a lovely flower flourish stamp so I’ll leave you with a few of my favourite cards using it.

Night all.

It All Worked Out

Well my idea that I mentioned yesterday worked out just how I wanted, so that may just be two LIM cards on the trot that I really like. Wonders will never cease!

IMG_5803

It’s a different take on yesterdays card and uses the negative of the punched circles. The three weeks challenges I have used for inspiration are:

  • Week 56 - Recipe Don’t Scrap It
  • Week 51 – Theme Cut it Out
  • Week 43 – Bit of Bling (hope my little pearls count, i tried it with gems but they looked too sparkly..lol)

IMG_5808

This time I stamped and embossed a second image on patterned paper and layered this beneath the punched panel using foam pads for dimension. I’ve added some pearls, inked some edges, matted it onto some pearlescent pink card and added a small pink ribbon. This has all been added to a DL card base with a sentiment from PolkaDoodles.

The picture doesn’t do this card justice, the images on the two layers are embossed in gold and silver and not sure this shows up in the pic. IRL it looks a lot more delicate.

Thanks for stopping by.

You’ll never guess….

Time got the better of me last week and I missed a challenge, so I was determined to not only make but also blog a card today.  Now you might not believe this but I’ve actually made a LIM card that I like! And it’s turned out exactly as I wanted…

IMG_5801

It's recipe this week to combine three previous challenges. My card could have worked for quite a combination of the weeks (bling, scraps, masking) but the three I’ve settled on are:

  • Week 53 Colour Aqua
  • Week 55 Theme Punches or Die Cuts
  • Week 24 Theme Circles

I began by stamping the Grungy Script stamp on a piece of square white card in Weathered Wood DI, then I masked and inked the stripes with VersaColour Turquoise ink on a make-up sponge. I then stamped and embossed the swirls twice, once on the card in Turquoise and one on a spare piece of card in silver. I pinched elements of silver image with various circle punches and layered onto the card with various depths of foam pads. Lastly a sentiment from PolkaDoodles and all edges inked with the same turquoise ink.

IMG_5802

I may try and get another picture in daylight tomorrow as in the photo the square of card looks cream and IRL it’s most definitely white.

While blogging this I’ve just had an idea for something using the waste from my punched out circles so hopefully if Hubby takes Little One out to the park tomorrow I’ll give it a try.

Thanks for stopping by.

One Layer Stripes

The challenge Chrissie and Mandi have set us this week at LIM is One Layer Stripes. Unusual for me as I have managed to make a card already and not at the last minute like I normally do.

The stripes had the grey cells a bit stumped to start with but then I remembered a Hero Arts Set of Ribbon stamps I was given ages ago as Birthday Present. They are Wood Mounted and hidden away in a box so I tend to forget about them.

This was the first card I made. I started by stamping the sentiment and the flower image. Then I masked the circle and stamped the stripes. The mask was a bit thick so the edges of the stamping weren’t defined enough, so I added the faux stitching in black to match the sentiment but have decided both were to harsh in colour and I should have used a lighter brown colour. Me no like this card…

IMG_5581

This is the second attempt and although better than the first I’m still not happy with it. I masked the square and stamped the stripes. Again the mask was a bit thick, so I added the stitching which on it’s own looked odd but looked better when I added the second row. I then over stamped circle sentiment and embossed in white. It looked too busy with the stripes showing through so I coloured it black to match the faux stitching and it shows off the detail on the white embossing much better, but I’m still not liking it…

IMG_5576

So not happy with either card I had a another rummage in my bag of die offcuts that I keep for using as masks and I found a circle of corrugated card that I die cut and then never used. I have used corrugated card to stamp lines before but I had the idea to mask, ink and cover a circle with EP and use the corrugated circle inked with VersaMark to remove the EP. I then heated the remaining EP and it has left a lovely stripy effect that I’ve enhanced by rubbing a little Distress Ink Walnut Stain over the top.

IMG_5586

On top of this I stamped the Flower Flourish (Kanban) and sentiment (Kaisercraft) in Brilliance Graphite Black, heat setting to dry the ink on top of the Embossed panel. A few gems added and probably one of my favourite one layer cards I’ve ever made.

Less is More - Aqua

Happy Birthday LIM. Chrissie and Mandi have now been challenging us for a whole year and a whole year of fun it has been too.

Now I’m going to apologise in advance for my pictures. I’m not having the best of weeks…a lot of things are breaking and stopping working for me. My camera being one of those things, so I have used my mobile to take these pictures.

The LIM challenge this week is Aqua and here is my first attempt.

IMAG0143

I have stamped the Kanban flower flourish and embossed in white onto a piece of thick smooth white card. I then took a makeup sponge and covered it in a mix of Turquoise VersaColour Ink and Perfect Pearls Mist (which I smooshed about on my craft mat to completely saturate the sponge). I then stamped(?) the sponge onto the card to highlight the white image. I added a sentiment from Kaisercraft, along with a few stamped flowers and some pearls and gems. This has been added to an aqua base card using foam tape.

I love how soft and delicate this card turned out.

IMAG0145

While I had these bits on my desk I used the scraps to make a little notelet and thought I might as well share that as well.

Thanks for stopping by.
