Less is More – Sketch (Try 2)

Me again. Still very cold and cold hands make stamping a bit tricky as everything wobbles. Over at LIM this is the sketch:

And here’s one of the ideas I had earlier but now it’s finished it’s not quite how I saw it in my head but I quite like it.

IMG_5532

It’s another One Layer card (go me!!!). I’ve used a Stampin Up set of Petals and Flower centres that I picked up second hand on Ebay last year. I started by masking and inking the panel and with the mask still in place stamping the line petals. I then removed the mask and stamped the dotted petals in a nice vibrant Fuchsia (kind of of hoping the warm colours would warm me up). I’ve drawn a thin silver border down the sides of the panel, which gives a faux layered effect. The sentiment is from Personal Impressions and lastly a chunky bit of bling.

Thanks for popping by.

Less is More – Sketch

It’s so cold here today. We’ve got a little fine snow but none of it is settling, thank goodness.  This isn’t a warm house, even with the heating on full blast. Little One and I are wearing layers and lot’s of them, which is ok for a bit of blogging, but I feel strange trying to do the house work in so many layers of clothes.

Anyhoo, enough waffle. This week at LIM Chrissie and Mandi have set a sketch challenge. We have to keep it as is, so no rotating or moving the sentiment.

I made this card on Saturday but I have been trying to get a decent picture. So here we go

IMG_5558

I masked with sticky notes, inked the background with green VersaMagic and then with the masks still in place stamped the butterfly background in Memento London Fog. After removing the masks I stamped the flowers (from Kanban) using Memento Pine Green onto copy paper to remove some of the ink and then onto the card. I then stamped the flowers again straight onto the card. Using the individual flowers I over stamped in Memento Rose bud and embossed with clear EP. Finally a sentiment from a Sheena Douglas set and a bit of bling on the flowers.

For once a LIM card that I am really happy with and it’s a one layer. I like this sketch and have a few more ideas so I might have a play when Little One has his afternoon nap so I make be back to share another later.

MAWTT GDT

Morning everyone just a quick little post as me and Little One are off to my parents for the day. I was lucky enough to be asked to be one of three guest designers at Moving Along With The Times for the next month (whoop whoop) so without further I’m here to share my first GDT card.

This challenge the theme is:

BLOOMING MARVELLOUS

So just make sure there are flowers on your image, your backing paper or your embellishments (or like me on all three).  The challenge is being sponsored by Bunny Zoe’s, pop over to the MAWTT blog to see more details and take a look at what the other GDT and DT have made.

IMG_5503

As I’m trying to use up my massive stash of patterned papers I have treated myself to a couple of new digis. This is one I picked up at The Paper Shelter. I’ve coloured her with ProMarkers and added her to an easel card covered with Core’dinations card and some paper from a Forever Friends set. I’ve also used my MFT Border Die, my favourite CC designs 5 Petal Flower Die, a Pink Gem circle sentiment, a Personal Impression sentiment and a bit of bling.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Less is More… with a hole

Afternoon everyone. Just a quick post from me while I have a quick cuppa as I’m knee deep in housework. Moving house/house hunting/Christmas has really upset my routine, I normally just do a little bit of house work each day and I keep on top of things but at the moment everything seems to need doing all at once. And don’t get me started on the dust….our last house was a new build and we didn’t get anywhere near as much dust as we do at the moment. Wipe, blink and the dust is back again that quick!

Anyhoo rant over I’m actually here to share the card I made for this weeks LIM challenge where Chrissie and Mandi have asked us to ‘Cut it Out’

IMG_5525

I cut an aperture using my largest circle Nestabilities and keeping the die in place embossed the edge of the aperture. Using a Hero Arts stamp set (Dotted Flowers) I stamped a leaf three times onto patterned green paper and the flower onto plain pink card and cut all out by hand. I glued the leaves and flower together and then to the card base (using Glossy Accents as it dries so quickly). Finally adding a sentiment (from a Personal Impression set), a piece of patterned paper on the inside of the card and a fabulous bit of bling for the centre of the flower. The bling was a real bargain, I got a massive sheet of clear gems of various sizes in a 99p store.

IMG_5526

Ooh and I forget to mention I’m going to be a guest designer with ‘Moving Along With The Times’ for the next month so pop back tomorrow when I will share my first card.

Right tea break over, thanks for stopping by.

Saturated Canary

I thought I would try out for the GDT Call at Saturated Canary. I don’t think my cards are anywhere near good enough as they are already tons and tons of fantastic cards,  but as they say ‘You have to be in it to win it’.

So here is my card made with the gorgeous ‘Becca and Bo’

IMG_5502

This image was lovely to colour, not to intricate but a nice balance with just the right amount of detail. And I got to practice my fur colouring skills on the cute little kitty (I need to practice as I’ve got something in the pipeline to do with colouring fur – more details soon).

IMG_5502

As usual the card is quite simple with some gorgeous First Edition Papers, a sentiment stamp from Kaisercraft, a couple of die cut corners, a ribbon border, small lace flowers, some pearls and of course some Stickles Glitter Glue.

Thank you for an opportunity to try out for a GDT spot, good luck everyone who has entered and lastly thanks for stopping by.

I’d also like to enter this in the Saturated Canary Challenge #9 – Dies and/or Punches.

A bird and a Chicken

Just a quick post from me as I’ve got some other things I should be doing.

In my earlier post for the ‘Bird’ challenge over on the LIM blog I said I had a card that needed a repair, well I haven’t had time to make the repair, let alone photograph it again so I thought I would post it anyway. It’s only a little gem on the bottom right flower that has slipped slightly so just imagine it’s on the flower.

IMG_0903

I used a small Hero Arts set that I have had for years and stamped with Timber Brown Stazon so that I could watercolour the birds and flowers, also adding some grass and a tree trunk.

I also made this little chicken card with the free stamp that came with this months Craft Stamper. I used some dies cuts to mask and ink the frame and then stamped the chicken in Memento ink and coloured with ProMarkers. The sentiment is a Polkadoodles stamp that came free with a magazine.

Sarah Hurley – It’s All About Me

It’s all about me is the theme of this fortnights challenge over at Sarah Hurley Challenge blog and this time I made something other than a card.

IMG_0920

I’ve made a wall hanging showing some of my favourite stamps, styles, techniques and embellishments. Here is each panel in more detail:

IMG_0933

IMG_0924

IMG_0923

IMG_0922

I have also included another absolute favourite of mine, paper patchwork using cream papers printed from Sarah's Christmas Cheer CD. Instead of faux stitching the sewing machine has taken another bash from me and I’ve included some real stitching (but don’t look too close as I need a lot more practice). I have also used stamps from Tim Holtz and Lili of the Valley, various inkpads, ProMarkers, Kraft card, Stickles, Glossy Accents and gold and silver pens.

Please pop over to the challenge blog and check out what the rest of the DT have created.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

I really enjoyed making something different and I hope you like it too.

More Birds

Well after telling you all about the fence painting I’d be doing today, I didn’t do any…it rained too much! So instead I’ve done some pottering around and sorting things out. My Mum has just taken little one for a bath (the perks of staying with my parents for a few days) so I thought I would share another of my ‘Bird’ cards for the challenge over at LIM.

IMG_0907

Starting with a square cream card blank I inked a panel using a Big’n’Juicy inkpad and then stamped and embossed this bird stamp from Inkadinkado and the sentiment from Polkadoodles.

Thanks for popping by.

PCJ – Floral Challenge

IMG_5447

Morning all. An early one for me as I have got a day of painting fences ahead of me (I’m helping my parents do some things in their garden). So I’m hoping the weather won’t be as chilly as it has been over the last few days. It’s very difficult trying to paint wearing so many layers of clothes and yesterday my feet were so cold I wore extra socks and that made my Welly boots a little too tight…I’m rambling…again..lol.

It’s time for the first PCJ challenge of 2012 and we also welcome on board our new DT members Christy, Jessie, Kenzie, Lou and Renee. The theme for this challenge is:

FLORAL

IMG_5447

In my stash busting efforts I have used some more papers from my stash, this time they’re Sugar and Spice from Dovecraft, I teamed this with some craft card and the first ever Little Claire stamp set I bought (several years ago now) called 'Floral Set'. I have coloured the flowers with ProMarkers and layered them up to give a little depth. Also you can see a little bit of stitching showing on the patchwork background. This was done using my Christmas present from my parents and I so need to practice. I was never any good stitching fabric, what on earth made me think I could stitch card any better I’ll never know. I’ve also used a couple of dies from Dies to Die For (CC Design 5 Petal Flower and DieNamics Border Die) and of course some Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to pop over to Paper Crafting Journey and see what wonderful prizes we have on offer from this months sponsors Sketching Stamper and Nicecrane Designs and also check out what the rest of the team have done.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Bye for now

Lisa

Ps: I’ll be back later with my project for Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog and it isn’t a card!

Cheep cheep

Don’t worry I’ve not gone mad (well no more mad than I have been for years lol) it’s the theme given to us by Chrissie and Mandi over at LIM this week. I have made four cards and to avoid picture overload I will post them separately. I also noticed after photographing them that one of the cards needs a little ‘repair’ before I can post.

This is my favourite of the four cards:

IMG_0895

The gorgeous little Owl and Tree are both stamps from Little Claire and have been coloured with ProMarkers and a white gel pen and the sentiment I have had for years but don’t know what make it is.

Thanks for popping by.

I promise this is my last entry to Chrissie and Mandi’s challenge over on the LIM blog. These three cards were part made yesterday but have only just had time to finish them as I have been helping my parents in their garden by doing some fence painting.

Using Up Stash

It might be blog post overload from me tonight. I don’t feel like crafting (shock) and I can’t watch TV as Hubby is using it to play Wii. So I thought I would blog some cards I have made recently and schedule some blog posts of upcoming DT cards.

Our house hunting is going quite well and we have a shortlist of three houses that tick most boxes for both of us, the exciting thing is they all have study’s downstairs which will probably be a Craft Room/Playroom for me and Little One and will mean I don’t have to share the spare room with Hubby and all his books and computer stuff.

Enough waffle, here’s my card:

IMG_5454

I do admit I’m a paper stroker, so having had this little beauty coloured up since before Christmas I resolved to use some of the gorgeous papers I’ve been hoarding. I also used a couple of the goodies I got for Christmas(corner die, border die and Dymo label machine) and a little treat I gave myself after Christmas (CC Designs 5 Petal Flower die).

IMG_5453

I would like to enter the following challenges:

I really struggle with embellishing my cards so I would love to know what you think.

Thanks for looking

Lisa

Items: Image Digi Stamp Boutique, ProMarkers, MFT Border Die, CC Designs 5 Petal Flower Die, Marianne Corner Die, Butterfly punch, ProMarkers, Pearls and Gems from Wild Orchid Crafts, Dymo Label Maker, Spica Glitter Pens, White Gell Pen, Peeled Paint Distress Inkpad, 6x6 white scalloped card blank and papers from My Minds Eye (forgotten which though…doh, will update later)

Less is More…Purple

Boy oh boy, I thought this week would be easier as I love Purple. Chrissie and Mandy you sure have challenged me, but that’s what I love!

The LIM Ladies want to see ‘Predominantly Purple’ this week. There is an attempt #1 & #2 which I may share later but am still undecided as to whether I like them so for now here is attempt #3:

IMG_5485

All purple apart from the tiny white pearls and one layer as well (very brave for me as it’s not even one layer week).  I would love to know what you think as I really struggle with the placement of the images and sentiments on CAS cards.

Thanks for stopping by

Lisa

Item’s: Purple Pearlescent A6 card blank, image and sentiment both from Little Claire, Pearls from Wild Orchid craft, various purple inks, VersaMark ink and Interference Violet Perfect Pearls.

Sarah Hurley Challenge – #57

Just a quick post from me as I’ve been running behind with everything all day and I need to head to bed soon as we have a busy day viewing potential new houses tomorrow. I’m here to share my card for the first challenge of 2012 over at Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog, where the theme this week is:

GIVING THANKS/THANK YOU

IMG_5436IMG_5430

Anyone who knows me knows I love Flutterbies so I immediately fell in love with this background paper from Sarah’s fantastic Woodland Whimsies CD. I printed the paper onto pearlescent card which has really made the colours pop (not sure the shimmer shows that well in the photo’s).

The pattern is so gorgeous I didn’t want to cover it up so kept the rest of the card quite simple and just used a few embellishments (also printed from the CD) and a couple of die cuts made with one of my crafty Christmas presents…the Spellbinders Label 18 dies.

Thanks for having a look at my card and don’t forget to hop over to Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the DT have created for this challenge.

Bye for now.
