By the time you read this I should be just about reaching home from my lovely holiday and will be dreading the pile of washing and ironing I will have to do – don’t you just hate that after a holiday?

It’s challenge time at ATC Challenge Blog but as I’ve been away I’ve not got an ATC to share. The time the theme is:

ANYTHING GOES

Pop over to the ATC Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the design team have made.

CBGM – Anything that Flies Challenge

Bumblebee Tilda

As you are reading this we are spending our last day in Ireland and this evening will getting the ferry from Cork back to Swansea, The ferry journey is long but is overnight so hopefully we should be able to get some sleep.

Ooh I do waffle sometimes…..anyhoo I am back with my final GDT card for Creations by Gill M  where the theme this week is ‘Anything that Flies’

Bumblebee Tilda

I’ve used Bumblebee Tilda but wanted to colour her up in different colours to tie in with the gorgeous papers from First Edition. Inspired by Joanne Wardle I have stamped Tilda on Kraft card and coloured her in with Derwent  Cumberland Coloured Pencils, and considering this is my first attempt at colouring on Kraft I’m pleased with the way it turned out.

Don’t forget to head on over to Creations By Gill M and see what the rest of the DT have made and to join in with this fabulous challenge.

Items: Magnolia Bumble Bee Tilda Stamp, Sentiment is Little Claire, DP is First Edition Up Up and Away, all other card from stash, Swirl and Butterfly die from Little Claire, border die from Spellbinders, lace from local sewing shop, Memento Rich Cocoa Inkpad, Derwent Cumberland Coloured Pencils, Stickles Glitter Glue and an X-Cut corner punch.

PCJ – Challenge 17

As you read this I will be almost halfway through my holiday but I’m here to say it’s time for another challenge at Paper Crafting Journey and this time it’s a nice and easy….

ANYTHING GOES

Meljens Butterfly Easel (1)

This time we are sponsored by Meljens and the DT were lucky enough to be given some images to play with and I used this fabulous butterfly which to me just said paper piecing straight away.

MDblinkie

I haven’t used any Meljens images before but I have to say I will definitely be using them again as they are so well drawn, cute, I could go on and on, also I noticed they do rubber stamps through Whimsy stamps.

Don’t forget to hop over to Paper Crafting Journey and see what the rest of the DT have made.

Bye for now.

Items: White 6x6 Scalloped Card blank from Little Claire, DP from a MME pad that came free with a magazine, all other card from stash, Stickles in Magenta and Stardust, ProMarkers, Pinflair Glaze, Image from Meljens Designs and Sentiment is computer generated.

Critter Sketch Challenge #78

Bugaboo Pretty Dress Card (1)

Another fortnight has gone by and it’s time for another challenge at Critter Sketch Challenge but before I get to that I just wanted to let you know there is a DT call going on at the moment, please click the badge to go and find out all about it.

dt call badge(1)

Right back to the challenge and the theme this week is:

WEDDINGS

Well it’s not a traditional wedding card but there’s a reason behind it….my Sister is getting married for the second time and her and her future husband are going to marry in St Lucia next year. My sister opted not to have a big white wedding the first time round and is keeping it even simpler this time round! So, I have used the colour of her dress as my inspiration and as we won’t be there on her big day I have made this card for her to open on the morning of her wedding as a good luck card and it will take the place of a big hug from me.

Bugaboo Pretty Dress Card (1)

I have used this super cute image from Bugaboo and although it doesn’t show in the photo I have glossed the dress with some Pinflair Glaze. I am addicted to it at the moment, it’s fab as it glosses but isn’t raised liked glossy accents would be. I wanted the focus to be on the dress so have kept the rest of the card quite simple.

Don’t forget to stop by Critter Sketch Challenge and see what the rest of the DT have made.

Items: Card from stash, Image a freebie from Bugaboo, MS Half Daisy Border punch, Sentiment from Kaisercraft, ProMarkers, Stickles Lavender, Pinflair Glaze and Whispers brush markers.

ATC Challenge Blog – Challenge 8

UTEE Bird ATC (8)

My holiday is just starting but I’ve scheduled this little post to share with you challenge number seven over on the ATC Challenge Blog and the theme this week is:

ANYTHING GOES

(Optional ‘Things with Wings’ Theme)

UTEE Bird ATC (8)

I was very inspired by an article in Craft Stamper about stamping into Melted UTEE so I have given this a try here, but I had to be a bit creative as I don’t have UTEE and I don’t have a melt pot, so I just used used normal embossing powder and heated it a layer at a time on a cheap non stick oven liner.

Pop over to the ATC Challenge Blog to see how I made it and to also have a look and see what the rest of the design team have made.

Items: Card, Stamp from Inkadinkado Music paper free download from My Grafico, cosmic Shimmer Bronze, Flowers from wild Orchid Crafts, Glitter, Embossing Powder – Clear White and Gold and a gem from my stash.

CBGM – Believe in the Magic Sketch Challenge

Believe in the magic fairy card (3)

Now if you’re reading this then Mr Blogger has played nice and has posted my scheduled post. Right about now our ferry should be about to dock in Cork Harbour and I can tell you already I will be so pleased to see land after 12 hours on a ferry!

Enough waffle…. I am very lucky to be a guest designer at Creations By Gill M for the next couple of challenges. And this time it’s a fab sketch and the theme of ‘Believe in the Magic’:

 SKETCH BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC

As you will see I have rotated the sketch 90 degrees anti clockwise and  my take is ‘Believe in the Magic of Fairies’

Believe in the magic fairy card (3)

Believe in the magic fairy card (1)

I’ve kept the card quite simple really as I’ve used the gorgeous Blossom Fairy from Little Claire and some fab First Edition Papers that are too pretty to cover up. I’m not sure what type of ‘fold’ this card is but I love it and have used it many times, if anyone knows please tell me lol.

Don’t forget to head on over to Creations By Gill M and see what the rest of the DT have made and to join in with this fabulous challenge.

Items: White 5x5 card blank, First Edition Sweet Owl Papers, Blossom Fairy from Little Claire, Sentiment from Pink Gem, ProMarkers, White Flowers coloured with ProMarkers, Smooth White card from Ryman’s, Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, Tuxedo Black Memento Inkpad, Liquid Pearls and some ribbon which was my Grans and must be about 50 years old!!

New Baby Card

I feel a bit sleepy now, one of our friends is about to go on Maternity leave so we all went out for a Curry for lunch and I now feel very full and very sleepy (but at least I won’t have to cook tea later!). I thought I would share the card I made for our friend, it’s not strictly a new baby card it’s more a good luck and hope everything goes well with the labour….but I didn’t think that would make a very good title for a post, lol.

Pink Gem New Baby Card (7)Pink Gem New Baby Card (5)Pink Gem New Baby Card (4)

I’ve done a few crafty cheats on this card…..well it would be nice to own every punch, die, etc, etc, that I want (need!) but it’s not always possible. I’ve seen a very nice Photo Corner punch used on a lot of cards so I made mine by cutting a square, punching a circle in the centre and then cutting in half diagonally…

Pink Gem New Baby Card (3)

The other little trick I’ve used is I don’t have a fancy rolled flower die so I made mine by punching a circle, cutting it into a spiral with some scissors and then rolling, I think it looks quite effective even if I do say so myself…

Pink Gem New Baby Card (1)

Well enough waffle I have more holiday prep to get done.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Items: 6x6 White Card blank, all other card from stash, Image from Pink Gem, Leaf punch from X-Cut, Circle Punch from Woodware, Ribbon from Stash, Pearls from an old broken bracelet, Ranger Liquid Pearls in White Opal and Lemon, Memento London Fog Inkpad, VersaFine Onyx Black, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Scallop Squares and Plain Squares Nestabilities and ProMarkers.

Less is More – Week 27

Phew, this week is getting more hectic, but hurrah holiday on Friday.  As I’ll be on holiday this will be my last LIM entry for a couple of weeks…but it will be great being away with family.

Our challenge at LIM Towers this week was to use the colours of my countries flag, now like Chrissie and Mandi I could of gone with either the red and white of the St Georges Cross or the Red White Blue of the Union Jack.

Red White Blue Flower Card (2)

As you can see I have gone with red, white and blue and used one of my favourite stamps of the moment a Hero Arts Cling Set called Dotted Flowers. This set is really versatile and looks equally fab just stamped or paper pieced onto patterned paper. The sentiment and small flowers are stamped directly onto the card base whilst the blue layer and large flower are raised up on foam pads to add some dimension. I can’t resist a little bit of bling so I’ve added Stickles to the dots of the large flower and also a blue button to the centre with some more Stickles, but I’m not sure the sparkle shows in the picture.

Thanks for stopping by.

Items: White Hessian Card from stash, Hero Arts Dotted Flowers cling Stamps, Sentiment from Kaisercraft, Memento inkpads in Danube Blue and Ladybug, Waterbrush and Christmas Red Stickles.

Candy Winner

Sorry I’m a little late posting this but we were staying at my parents over the weekend for a birthday BBQ and since we got home yesterday I’ve been trying to get everything sorted, washed, ironed and ready to pack for our holiday.  I can’t wait. We are off on Friday to South West Ireland for two whole weeks of relaxation.  We are going with family so it will be a bit of rest for me as my niece loves to help out with my little one.

Anyhoo…..with a big drumroll….the winner (very scientifically scribbled on bits of paper and pulled from Little Ones sun hat) is……

APRIL TATE

Congratulations April, please email me on lisaandrews79@yahoo.co.uk with your full postal address and I will get your candy posted to you.  Please contact me before Thursday otherwise I won’t be able to post until after my holiday.

Might be back later to share a card I’ve been making for a friend who is about to go on Maternity leave…..if I get the time!

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Blog Birthday To Me

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I started my blog.

Firstly I want to say a quick thank you to the thirty six followers I have gained along the way, in particular to Lisa Jane who is my most frequent visitor and always has something lovely to say about my creations (even the not so great ones…lol).

Secondly to celebrate I have a little candy to give away.

IMG_4498

It’s not massive but it’s just a few of the things I like to use when crafting….a pad of patterned paper, a pad of plain textured cardstock, some glittery borders, a cute stamp set, some scalloped card blanks, a sentiment stamp and some patterned brads (but silly me forget to put them in the photo).

The rules:
  • Be or become a follower (if you are one of my existing followers I’ll put your name in the hat twice…so you’ll get two chances to win)
  • Leave your name in Mr Linky……and just for fun link to a card/project/layout that best shows your style
  • Put a picture with a link back here on your blog or sidebar to spread the word.
The candy winner will be drawn at sometime on Sunday 7th August.

Less is More–Week 26

Just a quick post from me. The challenge over at LIM this week is Feeling Fruity.

03082011463

I’ve used a cherry stamp that part of a cupcake set by Hero Arts. Whilst stamping out some cherries and colouring them in I was reminded of arcade machines. The sentiment is computer generated using word art on MS Word.

PCJ – Challenge 16

August already? And finally we have some nice weather, I hope you do in your part of the world.  I’m here with another new challenge at Paper Crafting Journey and this time is a photo inspiration:

Here’s my card:
Beach Boy Happy Birthday Card (2)
This challenge we have been sponsored by Digital Delights and were lucky enough to be given some images to use.

DDbadge2011 - Copy
I was inspired by the colours and the pattern, so I used my new set of Joycraft flower dies and just cut lot’s of different colours (edit: I made this card before my Cuttlebug broke…sob sob….but the postman should be delivering me a new one any day now and a couple of other goodies may have slipped into my shopping basket at the same time!), the rest of the card was kept quite simple.
Don’t forget to stop by PCJ and see what the rest of the DT have made and also enter the challenge.

Items: Image from Digital Delights, sentiments from Pink Gem All card from stash. Memento Paris Dusk inkpad, Joycrafts flower dies, ProMarkers, Stickles Glitter Glue and a Whispers Brush Marker for the Faux stitching.

Something a little different

I had family visiting over the weekend and couldn’t really disappear to my little Crafty Hideaway to make any cards so when I saw a little colouring competition on the Letraset blog I thought I would have a go as it’s something I could do whilst being sociable at the same time.

Manga Colouring (1)

This has been coloured with ProMarkers only.

ATC Challenge Blog – Challenge 7

It’s challenge number seven over on the ATC Challenge Blog and the theme this week is:

ANYTHING GOES

(Optional ‘All things Summer’ Theme)

Well we sort of have some nice sunny weather here at the moment and my garden has a nice row of sunflowers all down the left hand side so with that in mind here is my ATC for this weeks challenge…

Sunflowers ATC (1)

Pop over to the ATC Challenge Blog to see how I made it and to also have a look and see what the rest of the design team have made.

I would also like to enter the following challenges:

Items: Corrugated card from Inkspots Art & Craft, yellow and green card from stash, DP from a DCWV stack, Woodware circle and daisy punches, Cinnamon Stickles and handwritten sentiment.

Critter Sketch Challenge #76

We have a fab new challenge over at Critter Sketch Challenge which is:

SUMMER FUN – USE A SUN ON YOUR PROJECT

(the rays of the sun, the sun itself or even a project of a sun catcher)

Summer Fun Card (3)

Now I hope you can spot my sun? I didn’t want it to look out of place and like it had just been stuck on so I made my circle sentiment my sun! I used a little trick I learnt from Chrissie over on the LIM blog on how to make a straight border fit a circle and the gorgeous image is from Little Claire.

The other DT members have been busy too so head on over to Critter Sketch Challenge and see all the other inspiration.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Items: C5 White card blank, patterned paper from Papermania, all other card from stash, Image and sentiment, Circle sentiment from Pink Gem, from Little Claire, VersaFine Vintage Sepia inkpad, Whispers brush marker, waterbrush and glossy accents.
